Interview with KIMBERLEY of BOW EVER DOWN on their version of “Sunbird” | Psy’Aviah Rediscovered

I got introduced to BOW EVER DOWN when they posted on the Sounds & Shadows Facebook group – it was an announcement about their album “Let It Burn”. I was intrigued by the mix of sounds, guitars, old drum computer sounds, fresh and old school synthesizer sounds and of course the voice of Kimberley. Tracks like “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me” & “Bury My Body” (from the album Lost In The Woods) with a synthpop style that incorporates both catchy vibes but has some excellent dirty synths or drums spicing it up. And through it all the voice of Kimberley telling a story, making the lyrics come alive, drawing you in. The song “Let It Burn” perhaps showcasing all of this the best of all, the verses vs the chorus really stood out to me in sound design and drum programming. Sounding impressively catchy all; yet complex enough for your ears, so they have some electronic candy and some aggressiveness contrasts… So, naturally, I couldn’t resist asking them for this project! I discovered CLAIRVAL through friends of mine of the Facebook group BMA (Belgium Music Addicts), and I was instantly in love with the combination of intricate songwriting they had – taking their time, a slow pace to build up momentum and atmosphere. I was blown away by their cover of U2’s ‘Where the streets have no name’: six minutes long, but it grabbed my attention from beginning to end. The pacing, sound design and beautiful vocals of Annelies Tanghe who they often work with really made me follow them more closely, and as such, I couldn’t resist asking them for this project! Madil Hardis combines classical and electronic elements with ethereal vocals and can be described as deep and soulful Weltschmerz music, sometimes slow, sometimes faster but always full of intensity and emotion.
Her most popular releases include the singles Slow Kill and Summers Lost. And lately with tracks like ‘Carry Me Away’ and ‘Make Up For Lost Time’. We sat down with Madil Hardis, who I discovered through Sounds & Shadows (thanks Ken Magerman), and I immediately thought: “wow, this is unlike something I ever heard before”. Interview with DIGITAL FACTOR on their version of “Lessons From The Past” | Psy’Aviah Rediscovered

We had a chat with MIKE of Digital Factor, a name that can not be overlooked. They were one of the first electro acts from East Germany to get a record deal after the wall came down. The band was formed out of an insane enthusiasm for synthesizers and electronic music, which is present to this day. In 1994 Digital Factor released their first EP on a Danish label, soon after thgat they got signed by Hyperium / Hypnobeat. The Breath Of Life for me encapsulates what I enjoy about music in general and that’s to be surprised in the combination of elements they have in their productions. I was an instant loved for example of their song “Crime Passionnel” where they have such a diverse mix of sounds, I would like to call it trip-hop meets a bit of rock… So it was with a small heart when I asked them if they would consider to cover us, and to my surprise, they agreed. It’s an iconic band I love a lot and this really means a lot to me to hear ‘The Parts You Can’t See’ in a version that is completely in their own sound & vision. Read More …
